Reserve Your Room at the Avalon Hotel by October 6th. The Avalon Hotel in the heart of downtown Erie has reserved a block of rooms for us at the rate of $89/night until October 6 or that block of rooms is completely reserved. Mention this conference to get this preferred rate. The Avalon is a few blocks’ walk to Gannon’s Schuster Gallery, the Warner Theater, the Erie Art Museum, and many shops and restaurants. The Avalon also provides guests with free ground transportation to and from the Erie Airport. You must reserve your own hotel room separately, registering for the conference does not include hotel room!
Students, first year art teachers, and first time attendees who register for the PAEA conference are eligible (in that order) for a one time reimbursement of registration fee costs through a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts grant managed by PAEA. Students, first year art teachers, and first time attendees should register as they normally would. You may pay registration by credit card or check. Upon arrival at the conference, complete the request for reimbursement forms available at the registration desk. Make sure you complete a self addressed envelope. The grant money is for reimbursement of out of pocket registration expense. If a school or institution is paying the registration, that cost does not qualify for reimbursement. Reimbursement is for registration costs only and does not include meals, travel or lodging. You must be a member of PAEA to qualify. If you attended a PAEA conference at any time in the past and have received a reimbursement, you do not qualify for another reimbursement. The only exception to this is if you received a reimbursement as a student and you are still a full time student from the time of the previous conference reimbursement. This registration reimbursement is made possible by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
